This is our 52nd coffee.
We shipped it on May 7, 2018.
The brewed cup is medium bodied, with dark chocolate attributes and hints of orange. It's a supremely sweet coffee with a smooth finish.
Somewhat poetically, this coffee is a cosmic alignment between your rate of speed and the signals that manage your route.
With a giving rate of 5.96%, we're donating $17.84 (plus a bonus donation of $403.61 to Cool Earth) this week. The money has been sent to Against Malaria Foundation.
We sourced this coffee for $4.65, which is 4.02x the market price at the time we bought it.
This is a special week for Effective Coffee. It’s our fifty-second consecutive week of shipping coffee, making for one full year of business. If you bought one bag, 10 bags or 52: Thank you. To celebrate, we made an extra donation this week. It’s to a particularly human-friendly environmentally focused outfit called Cool Earth. Through Cool Earth, for every bag sold in the past year we’re protecting 300 square feet of rainforest, for a decade.
We sold 735 bags of coffee this year and donated a total of $1334.41.
Of that donated, $778.30 went to the Against Malaria Foundation. Those dollars paid for anti-malarial nets enough to protect 710 people for 4 years.
Of the total donated $149.50 went to a project of the Helen Keller Institute. This donation was twice matched, tripling it’s total impact. Excluding those matching funds, these dollars paid for 199 vitamin A supplementation (VAS) shots in sub-Saharan Africa. VAS shots are correlated with reductions in childhood mortality.Read more here.
Finally, in celebration of one full year of business, we donated to Cool Earth who’s work in rainforest communities is among the most cost effective approaches to addressing climate change. For every bag sold this past year (735) we donated enough to protect 300 square feet of rainforest for a combined total of a little over 5 acres.

All of the above was accomplished while sourcing our coffee at over 3x the market rate. Thank you again to all bought coffee this past year – it may be small, but the impact is real.
Since we started in May 2017, we've sold 1027 bags of coffee and donated $1605.27 to highly effective charities.
During that time, we've donated 5.47% from our weekly revenue. A better assessment of our effort is the rolling 4-week donation rate, which is currently 5.94%.
To date, we've sourced our coffee at an average price of $4.56, which is an average of 3.53x above the market at the time of each sourcing purchase.
