This is our 35th coffee.
We shipped it on January 8, 2018.
The brewed cup Brown sugar, dark chocolate and walnut are the key figures in this coffee. It's a wonderfully clean coffee, with a mild acidity and medium body. Just a delight!
Somewhat poetically, this coffee is a brisk morning, a thick coat and finding the perfect walking stick.
With a giving rate of 5.68%, we're donating $13.69 this week. The money has been sent to Against Malaria Foundation, Helen Keller Institute.
We sourced this coffee for $2.20, which is 1.72x the market price at the time we bought it.
Separate from our regular weekly donation, sales of this coffee generate 35 cents per pound for the International Women’s Coffee Alliance to support women in the coffee supply chain. Grown, harvested, processed, exported and imported entirely by women, this coffee is a special one.
Additionally, we bought the green coffee at a price far below our target price of $4.50/lb. We donated the difference between what we paid and our target price to the Helen Keller Institute, another charity highly recommended by Givewell.org. That additional donation was for $149.50 ($2.30/lb), which was matched, for a total impact of $299.
Since we started in May 2017, we've sold 1027 bags of coffee and donated $1605.27 to highly effective charities.
During that time, we've donated 5.47% from our weekly revenue. A better assessment of our effort is the rolling 4-week donation rate, which is currently 5.94%.
To date, we've sourced our coffee at an average price of $4.56, which is an average of 3.53x above the market at the time of each sourcing purchase.
