This is our 29th coffee.
We shipped it on November 27, 2017.
The brewed cup is a huge coffee, bursting with bold red fruits. It's bombastic and reflects the deep red volcanic soil from which it sprung. The coffee is sweet, winey and a perfect match for this record setting week.
Somewhat poetically, this coffee is foregoing your usual spot in the living room and finding the light from your new perch to be a new joy.
With a giving rate of 5.84%, we're donating $16.41 this week. The money has been sent to Against Malaria Foundation.
We sourced this coffee for $5.20, which is 4.19x the market price at the time we bought it.
This week was a high water mark! With 21 shipments going out, we’re donated 5.84% of the week’s revenue. That’s $16.41 and brings our total recurring donations for the year to $189.93. Records all.
The money has been sent to the Against Malaria Foundation. They can put the money to work right away, buying and distributing bed nets to people who need them as protection from infected mosquitoes. Since the year 2000, the number of people killed by malaria has been halved, from 800,000 then to 400,000 now. Treated anti-malaria nets are central to that reduction.
Since we started in May 2017, we've sold 1027 bags of coffee and donated $1605.27 to highly effective charities.
During that time, we've donated 5.47% from our weekly revenue. A better assessment of our effort is the rolling 4-week donation rate, which is currently 5.94%.
To date, we've sourced our coffee at an average price of $4.56, which is an average of 3.53x above the market at the time of each sourcing purchase.
